Do red marks always need laser treatment?

No, treatment is not mandatory. Flat red marks can fade over time. But persistent marks or marks that bother you even under makeup can be reasons to consider treatment.

How do red marks, brown marks and indented scars differ?

Treatment depends on whether only colour remains or the skin's contour has changed too. Vascular changes behind red marks and melanin behind brown marks are different targets.

Purple or dark-red marks cannot be classified by colour names alone. Examine whether pigment and vascular changes coexist and whether inflammation remains.

How long should I wait for marks to fade naturally?

Red marks may take months or longer to fade. Remaining for a month or two does not make a mark a permanent scar, nor must you wait until a fixed month to seek treatment.

Distinguish when acne first appeared from when inflammation settled. If new pimples recur at the same site, recent inflammation can be mixed with older marks.

Will one session work? How many sessions, and how far apart?

Decide the number of sessions by assessing changes after initial treatment. Total package visits and the number of vascular laser sessions can differ.

Mellow Dermatology Clinic Yeongdeungpo describes four weekly treatments for a woman in her twenties with papules, pustules, red marks and some pigmentation. It selected an all-in-one acne programme based on lesion count and skin condition.

The clinic describes less inflammatory acne and erythema and a more even skin tone. Some pigmentation and scar traces remained. Four sessions refers to the whole programme, not four Vbeam-only treatments.

A 2014 study treated the two facial sides of 12 Korean participants with different lasers, three times at four-week intervals. Both improved erythema without a clear difference. This small study does not establish a preferred device or a rule that three sessions suffice.

Before booking, ask whether both cheeks or the whole face are covered and whether changing the laser mode adds a charge. Ask for the total including calming care, extraction, injections and VAT.

Does it hurt or bruise? Can I do it before an interview or photo shoot?

Redness, swelling and bruising can remain, so avoid a first session immediately before an important event. Recovery depends on the device, settings and whether scar treatment is combined.

Pulsed dye laser treatment can cause stinging, redness, swelling, purpuric bruising and pigment changes. A report of little pain does not mean your skin will look normal the next day.

What should I do at home if I do not get laser treatment?

Reduce new inflammation and irritation rather than scrubbing marks away. Moisturiser and sunscreen are basics; topical products should match red erythema versus brown pigmentation.

Cleansing and touching: Cleanse gently without scrubs or strong peels to strip off marks. Avoid squeezing remaining pimples or picking scabs.
